(San Diego) – Today, Congressman Brian Bilbray attended the Halloween luncheon at the Live Well Senior Center in Clairemont.

The Halloween costumes were pretty scary, but not as terrifying as Scott Peters’ recent calls to make cuts to Medicare and Social Security.

Congressman Bilbray has voted to preserve and protect Medicare, while Peters has repeatedly stated that he supports a government-run healthcare, which would cut Medicare by more than $700 billion.

“As a candidate running to be your representative, I will always defend our greatest generation,” said Congressman Bilbray.  “The new ‘Peters Plan’ would make cuts to Medicare and put our seniors in jeopardy.  That is why I adamantly oppose the ‘Peters Plan’ and will fight to preserve and protect Medicare for future generations.”

Recently, Congressman Brian Bilbray was awarded the RetireSafe’s “2012 Standing Up for America’s Senior Award.” RetireSafe is a grassroots organization that advocates and educates on behalf of America’s seniors on issues regarding Social Security, Medicare, health and financial well being. RetireSafe is continuing its recognition of Members of Congress who are not afraid to stand up for America’s seniors.
